Housing Registration
Be part of our Cowboy family! Registration begins Saturday, February 1 for incoming first-year freshmen, transfer students, those applying for Living Learning Programs, and other students needing OSU housing for the 2025-2026 academic year.

- Priority Deadlines
- Priority consideration deadline for Living Learning Programs application by Saturday, February 1.
- Tuesday, April 1 is the priority deadline for new residents to have their roommate pairs created and preferences ranked. Roommate pairs should match their housing preference rankings with each other. Afterward, students will not be able to come back to change their preferences.
- Housing Preferences (Housing Styles and Room Type Codes)During your housing registration, you'll be asked to rank housing preferences.
- Housing styles refer to halls that are traditional, suites, deluxe suites or apartments.
- Room type codes refer to the type of floor plan and can be found for each hall in the Hall Finder. For example, the code 2B/1B means two bedrooms and one bathroom. The room type code for the traditional housing style is also called "traditional."
- Freshman Residency Requirement
- While the Freshman Residency Requirement is not new, the deadline for requests and the exemption requirements and documentation have been adjusted for 2025-2026.
- The exemption request (form) opens on Sunday, December 1 and closes Wednesday, September 3.
- Request to Cancel (form)
- To request a housing registration cancellation, complete the new Request to Cancel (form) by the stated deadlines below.
- Once the form is processed, you will receive an email notifying you of its status.
- If approved, we will cancel your registration. If declined, we will let you know of any further steps you need to take. See fee schedule.

- Auto-allocation
- This year, room assignments will be auto-allocated with assignment emails going out the week of April 21.
- Assignment will prioritize the roommate pairs first, and then housing preferences.
- Ready-To-Be-Assigned List
- If you are not assigned a room the week of April 21, your housing registration will be on the ready-to-be-assigned list.
- When a space becomes available, you will be assigned and notified of an assignment by Friday, August 1.
- Room assignments after the week of April 21
- Unassigned registrations will be pulled from the ready-to-be-assigned list every two weeks and assigned rooms.
- Room Swap and Waitlist FunctionsJune 1 to Aug. 1, students with room assignments (who would like different rooms) can log into the OSU Housing Portal to create a room-swap request or join a waitlist.
- Room swap is handled completely by two residents to swap rooms.
- Waitlist allows students to put their name on a waitlist for their desired housing style. This process is handled by the Assignments Team.

- (Oct. 1 to Feb. 1) Priority consideration for Living Learning Programs (LLPs) closes
Saturday, February 1. Submit your application now.
- Learn more about Living Learning Programs and find one right for you.
- Submit your LLP application via Oklahoma State Application portal.
- You must also register for housing beginning February 1. Read more at Dates and Deadlines for LLPs.
- (Dec. 1) Enrollment deposit opens. Find out how it affects your housing assignment.
- Admitted, incoming first-year students must submit the $300 enrollment deposit to register for housing beginning Saturday, February 1.
- Room assignments are based on your housing preferences and the date and time you submitted your enrollment deposit.
- (Dec. 1 to Sept. 3) Housing Exemption Request (form) for the Freshman Residency Requirement
is opened.
- Housing exemption request (form) opens Sunday, December 1 and closes Wednesday, September 3.
- Be sure to review the various deadlines and the Freshman Noncompliance Fee associated with the Freshman Residency Requirement listed on the request form.

(Feb. 1 at 8 a.m.) Housing registration opens.
- To start the registration process, log in to Housing Registration (via the OSU Housing Portal).
- For transfer students and others needing housing, there is a $200 payment, payable in advance, for a housing lease.
- You will rank housing style preferences (traditional, suites, deluxe suites and apartments) and submit roommate pairs.
- Visit the Hall Finder to learn about housing styles, hall amenities and rates.
- (March 31 ) Living Learning Program Match Day
- On Monday, March 31 you will find out by email which LLP has selected you to be a part of their community.
- (April 1 at noon) Last day to change or update roommate pairs or housing-style preferences.
- Log in to Housing Registration (via the OSU Housing Portal) to update your information.
- (April) Room assignment notifications begin and will continue through summer.
- Room assignments are based on housing preferences and the date/time the enrollment deposit was submitted.
- Look for an email with your room assignment in your okstate.edu email.
- (May 1) Last day to cancel and receive a partial enrollment deposit refund of $250.
- To cancel housing registration, submit a Request to Cancel (form) to request to have your room assignment canceled.
- $300 enrollment deposit - $50 nonrefundable housing deposit = $250 partial enrollment deposit refund

- (June 1 to Aug. 1) Room swap and waitlist functions open for residents with room
assignments.Both options are for residents with room assignments who are seeking different assignments. Log in to Housing Registration (via the OSU Housing Portal) to update your information.
- Room swap allows you to use a search feature to find other residents who are looking to swap rooms.
- Waitlist options are apartment, suite, deluxe suite and traditional. Assignments are made on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- (July 11) Last day for fraternity students to submit their bid forms to get their
$150 housing deposit refund back.
- After this date, students will not receive their housing deposit back.
- No action is required at ResLife.

- (July 15) Last day to cancel without a late cancellation fee.
- To request a housing registration cancellation, complete and Request to Cancel (form) by 11:59 p.m. on July 15 to avoid the late cancellation fee of $250.

- (July 15) Last day to submit housing exemption and required documents without fees.
- (Aug. 1) Last day to request a housing exemption for the Freshman Residency Requirement and be notified of its status before classes begin.
- (Aug. 1) Room swap and waitlist functions close.
- There are no available spaces that match your request to change, so you will keep your current room assignment.
- (Aug. 11-4) Move-In DaysDates are subject to change.

- (Sept. 30) Housing registration (via the OSU Housing Portal) closes for the 2025-2026
academic year.
