Housing Registration
Housing and Residential Life and Fraternity and Sorority Affairs work closely together. This page highlights key dates and useful information for students moving from OSU Housing to Greek Life or from Greek Life to OSU Housing. Contact the Assignments Team if you need additional information for your specific situation.
Visit Financial Responsibility for more information about potential fines and fees associated with moving out or into OSU Housing. Fines and fees may include but are not limited to the following:

» Leaving OSU Housing for Greek Life
Timeline for Spring 2025
- (Dec. 1-16 at 5 p.m.) Breaking OSU Housing Lease
- First-year students in their first semester who have completed their sorority/fraternity transfer form
and bid card will receive a $250 late cancellation fee for breaking their housing
lease.
- After 5 p.m. on Monday, December 16, first-year students who break their lease will be charged a single payment equal to their housing rate for two months and forfeit their registration fee refund.

Upper-class students who break their OSU housing lease will be charged a single payment equal to their housing rate for two months and forfeit their registration fee refund.
- First-year students in their first semester who have completed their sorority/fraternity transfer form
and bid card will receive a $250 late cancellation fee for breaking their housing
lease.
- Move-Out Process
- Residents moving out of OSU Housing to Greek Life must follow the detailed instructions on Move-Out Process.

- Steps for moving into residence halls
- Submit the Interfraternity Council New Member Drop/Release Form
- Attend a required meeting with the Assignments Team to coordinate returning to OSU Housing. After which, a room assignment will be made.

- Meal Plans
- Returning residents may need to ask the Assignments Team to reactivate a meal plan.
- Bronze is the minimum required meal plan for freshmen living on campus.
- Parking and Transportation
- When living on campus, residents must have parking passes for vehicles. Visit OSU Parking and Transportation Services to purchase passes.
» Leaving Greek Life for Nonuniversity Accommodations
- Freshman Residency Requirement and the Freshman Noncompliance Fee may apply
- All freshmen who are unmarried, without dependents, and under the age of 21 are required to reside in university housing during the academic year.
- To live somewhere other than OSU housing, freshmen must be granted a housing exemption, or they will be charged the equivalent of the housing rate for the least expensive housing option for two semesters (fall and spring).
- For 2024-2025, the freshman noncompliance fee is $2,515 for the fall semester plus $2,515 for the spring semester for a total of $5,030.
