What to do and when to do it! Key dates and deadlines for living in OSU Housing from move-in to move-out. Information below may be updated as needed.
Note: During breaks and holidays, the residential halls stay open so you can come and go as needed.
Fall 2024
- (Aug. 12-14) Fall 2024 Move-In Days

- Monday, August 12 (Sorority Recruitment)
- Tuesday, August 13 (Admitted Students Day)
- Wednesday, August 14 and Thursday, August 15 (General Move In)
- (Sept. 2) Labor Day
- Housing and Residential Life Offices are closed for Labor Day on Monday, September 2, 2024
- (Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. through Nov. 6 at 3 p.m.) Request to Change Room Assignments may
be made during this time frame.
- Requests are processed pending the availability of rooms. For detailed information and instructions, visit Request to Change Rooms.
- (Nov. 18-22) Home Improvement Week
- Does something in your space need repaired? Broken blinds? Stopped up sink? Drawer won't shut?
- We ask that you report any wear and tear so we can get it fixed.
- Call HRL Facilities Office 405-744-8510.
- (Nov. 25-29) Student Break/Thanksgiving Break
Student Fall Break (No Classes)
- Monday, November 25 through Wednesday, November 27
- The halls are open from Saturday, November 23 through Sunday, December 1. You may come and go as needed.
Thanksgiving Break
- Thursday, November 28 through Friday, November 29
- Housing and Residential Life Offices are closed for Thanksgiving Break on Nov. 28-29, 2024. All offices will follow OSU's hours of operation. Regular hours resume Monday, December 2, 2024.
- Student Break/Thanksgiving Break: Desk and Maintenance Services
- Visit DESK SERVICES for hours of operation
- Family Resource Center is closed from Wednesday, November 27 through Sunday, December 1.
- On-call staff is available.
- University Laundry and the Brumley Laundry will be open during the break.
- If you need FRC assistance during the break, call 405-564-4028.
Maintenance Assistance
- If you have maintenance issues during office hours, contact the HRL Facilities Office at 405-744-8510.
- If there is an emergency maintenance issue, contact OSU Facilities Management at 405-744-7154.
- Student Break/Thanksgiving Break: Prepare Your Space Before You Leave
Follow these precautions to secure your home and prevent weather-related issues:
- Unplug appliances/electronics (except refrigerator).
- Set thermostats to HEAT, AUTO, and between 70-75 degrees (even if it is 80 degrees the day you leave!).
- Take trash and recycling to the appropriate dumpster.
- Clear your floor and breezeways of books, boxes, electronics and personal items.
- Open cabinets under bathroom and kitchen sinks.
- Remove food that will be spoiled from your refrigerator and your room.
- Turn off lights, lower shades and tilt blinds up.
- Lock doors including bedroom and patio/balcony.
- Pick up mail and take all valuables and pets with you.
- Hall staff may enter your space to ensure it is ready for a freeze.
- (Dec. 13) Semester ends. Make plans for move-out if you graduating or leaving OSU

- (Jan. 1) New Year's Day
- Housing and Residential Life Offices are closed for New Year's Day on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.
- Setting off fireworks inside Stillwater city limits is illegal.
- (Jan. 14-30) Housing registration for 2025-2026 for current residents
- Review registration timeline.
- (Jan. 20) MLK Day 2025
- Housing and Residential Life Offices are closed for Martin Luther King Day on Monday, January 20, 2025.
- (Jan.22-March 5) Requests for room change assignments opens
- Visit Request to Change Rooms for instructions. The Roompact form opens TBA
- Note: Room change requests are processed based on room availability.
- (March 17-21) Spring Break 2025
- The halls are open. You may come and go as needed.
