Request to Change Rooms

Undergraduate Residents

• Spring 2025
  You may request to change your room assignment and transfer to another room. Look for the "Request to Change Rooms" form in Roompact.com. Requests are processed based on room availability. Room change requests are processed in rounds every two weeks. Room change fees  apply, whether or not the transfer is accepted.Requests may be submitted between 10 a.m. on Jan. 13  and 3 p.m. on March 5.

• How Requests are Processed
  Once you have completed and submitted the room change form, you will be notified via email if you have been approved for a room change (with your new room assignment) or if your request will remain on the waitlist for the next round. Staff sends emails every two weeks.
• How to Transfer: Checkout and Check-in
  1. You should pick up keys from the desk that serves the area you are moving to during regular hours of operation. Desk Services: Hours and Locations
  2. You will schedule checkout appointments via SignUpGenius for either Friday, Monday or Tuesday. If you do not schedule a checkout appointment you transfer will be canceled.
  3. Once you are checked out of the old room and checked into the new room, you will fill out you new ROC within 48 hours of checking in.

Year-Round Housing Residents

• Forms must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30.
• Housing and Residential Life will offer another room transfer process during the fall semester.

• Deadline is 5 p.m. on April 30, 2025
  1. You will receive an email detailing the room transfer and roommate consolidation process. 
  2. Go to Roompact.com. Submit the following forms. Neighborhood Communities Request to Change Rooms form on If you do not have a specific roommate in mind, you are also encouraged to fill out the Roommate Questionnaire for Neighborhood Communities so that Residential Life can find a roommate that best matches your responses. 
  3. The room change and consolidation offers will be sent to your OSU email address in early May.  You will have 72 hours to respond to the offer. If you do not accept the offer within 72 hours the offer will be rescinded. 
  4. If you accept the offer, you will be able to pick up keys for your new apartment beginning June 1.  
  5. You will have 72 hours from the time you pick up the keys for your new apartment to complete your move and return the keys for your old apartment to the FRC. 
  6. If you choose not to submit either form, you will either pay 100% of your current unit’s housing rate or be assigned a roommate at Housing and Residential Life’s discretion.
