Adult Programs
Free Classes Designed for You
As an Family and Graduate Student Housing (FGSH) resident, you are welcome to attend the Adult Programs. You must complete registration before you attend classes. Afterward, attend as many classes as you want.
Learn from current and retired faculty, graduate students and students training to teach English as a second language. Earn certificates for attendance and participation at the end of each semester.

English with Hope
- Mondays from 10 to 11 a.m.
- English proficiency: Basic
- Practice reading, writing, listening and speaking to improve your conversational English.

Connections with Kimber
- Mondays from noon to 1 p.m.
- English Proficiency: Basic
- Connect with others! This class allows you to share your home culture and traditions with your neighbors and to learn more about American culture in a relaxed setting. This two-way exchange of ideas helps build healthy relationships and connections in our community. It is a great place to practice English.

American Idioms and Expressions with Karsten
- Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to noon
- English Proficiency: Intermediate
- Bite the bullet. A dime a dozen. If you want to improve your understanding of common American idioms and phrases, this class is for you. Join us and practice conversation skills and improve your American English. Time flies when you're having fun!

Book Club with Timothy
- Tuesdays from 1 to 2 p.m.
- English proficiency: Basic
- Book clubs are a great way to practice English by reading, speaking and listening. Everyone will read the same book and meet once a week to discuss it in a group setting. Guaranteed to be fun!
- Speaking and Presentation Skills with Hope
- Wednesdays from 10 to 11 a.m.
- English proficiency: Intermediate
- Develop your written and spoken English skills by registering for this class on public speaking and presenting. Whether you need to present a lecture in an academic setting or share information with a group of friends, this class provides you a place to practice and improve your skills..
- Conversations with Timothy
- Wednesdays from 1 to 2 p.m.
- English proficiency: Intermediate
- Conversation classes are a great way to practice English and to meet new friends. New topics each week!
- Sewing and Quilting with Mary Jo
- Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- English proficiency: Basic
- In this class, you will learn to operate a sewing machine, gain basic sewing skills and create quilting blocks. Explore a new hobby, learn new vocabulary words, and join in the conversation with your new friends.
- Farm to You with Hannah
- Fridays from 1 to 2 p.m.
- English Proficiency: Intermediate
- Learn how your food moves from the farm, to the packing plant, to the grocery store, and then to you. We will also explore the benefits of food choices and supporting sustainable practices.
