What We Do

  • Regular preventative maintenance
    • Regular preventative maintenance occurs throughout the academic year for year-round wear, tear and repairs.  We ask that you report any issues in your living areas, so that we can take care of it. Delaying reporting could result in further damage. If the repair was not the result of everyday wear and tear, Residential Life reserves the right to charge for repair services.
    • Common maintenance and repairs include the following:
      • Furniture
      • Outdoor sport courts
      • Laundries
      • Trouble with blinds
      • Light bulbs in university-provided fixtures
      • Appliances not working
      • Pest control
      • Leaks
      • Clogged toilets, sinks and showers
  • 24-hour emergency assistance

OSU Facilities Management provides 24-hour emergency assistance. An emergency can include but is not limited to the following:

    • Persons stuck inside an elevator
    • Smell of gas
    • Active water leak
    • No heat/air conditioning during times of extreme temperatures
    • Broken window or door that would prohibit the unit from being secured
    • If the toilet is not working in a unit/suite/apartment that only has one bathroom
    • Smoke detector beeping for no reason
  • Notification before staff enters your space
    • You will be notified before the time of the maintenance so you can prepare your living space (if needed).
    • Maintenance staff who enter your room will knock THREE times and announce themselves BEFORE entering the space.
    • If you are not home when the work is completed, maintenance staff will leave a card letting you know what was done, the date and time, and the technician who did the work.
  • Shoe coverings in FGSH Neighborhoods

As a resident, if you want university staff to wear protective shoe coverings over their shoes when entering your apartment, request a “shoe covering is required” door sign from the Community Relations Office. The sign must always be posted on the door.

  • Grounds, lawns and sport courts
Plan for events held in outdoor spaces. If you want to use the outdoor spaces for an event, contact the HRL Facilities Office in advance. We can help with power, water, tables/chairs, trash cans, and so forth.
  • Light bulbs
    • The university supplies energy-efficient light bulbs. If you need fluorescent lights, appliance bulbs, breezeway lights or overhead ceiling lights, call the HRL Facilities Office at  405-744-8510.
    • 60-watt (or its equivalent) bulbs are the maximum size for any university-supplied fixture in the apartment.
